It is once more time for the annual TCEQ Hearing on the rules that regulate development on the Edwards Aquifer. As you are all aware, these rules are not sufficiently protecting the aquifer. GEAA has been submitting the same comments since 2005. In 2006, 2007, and 2009, we added recommendations to those previously submitted but never acted upon.
The TCEQ has provided us a unique opportunity in San Antonio this year by scheduling the Edwards Rules Hearings at a time and place that is actually accessible. We invite you to join us:
Tuesday, November 16th
9am at the TCEQ park 35 Office Complex,
Building E, Room 201 S
12100 park 35 Circle, Austin
Thursday, November 18th
6:30p.m. at the Tesoro Building, Alamo Area Council or Governments
Al J. Notzon III Board Room
8700 Tesoro Drive, Suite 100, San Antonio
I will be sending out a request for coverage, and hope that they can report from a room full of concerned citizens. Since TCEQ is under sunset review this session, now is our time to draw attention to their lack of due diligence in protecting our water supply.
I hope to see you there!
Dear GEAA Members and Friends,
The holiday season is coming upon us fast! Once Thanksgiving passes, we will be bombarded with holiday paraphernalia, Christmas lights and snowmen (though probably no real snow…). Come December, we will be bombarded with new STUFF. The amount of clutter in our lives can become overwhelming. GEAA wants to help you clean out your closet! We are hosting our second annual ONLINE auction for the first two weeks in December. Donate items to GEAA and we’ll sell them online. Thanks to programs like MissionFish (Ebay’s charitable auction service), Ebay grants nonprofit organizations 100% of their proceeds. That means none of the donations get lost in processing fees.
If you own a bed and breakfast or are in the service industry, you can donate a weekend stay or gift certificates. Items that we can sell: gift certificates, coffee, electronics, tickets, sporting goods, books, video games and more!
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 210 320 1457 with a description and estimated value of your donation.
Look for our announcement and visit the GEAA E-Bay Auction later this month. Your holiday giving will be twice as generous when you purchase presents from among the fabulous offerings we are sure to have.

We are pleased to announce that H-E-B has selected EarthShare of Texas to be the beneficiary of its in-store coupon promotion for November, in recognition of Texas Recycles Day. This means that customers can tear off and add check-out coupons worth $1, $3, or $5 to their total bill to support environmental work in the San Antonio area.
H-E-B has supported many EarthShare of Texas organizations with corporate grants or in-kind contributions. The November tear-pad promotion enables H-E-B customers to support the environmental program work of more than two dozen Earth Share of Texas organizations, including GEAA. Look for the EarthShare of Texas display and tear-off coupons at the check-out stands in more than 50 H-E-B and Central Market stores in the San Antonio and Hill Country area from late October through early December. And help support Earth Share of Texas and the Texas environment!
